History at UÕ¬Äе¼º½

Fraternities and sororities are an integral part of campus life and have been around since the birth of our nation. The first Greek-letter organization was formed at the College of William and Mary in 1776, and since then many other Greek-letter organizations have formed. Fraternities and sororities are active on over 800 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

Greek-letter organizations have been a part of the UÕ¬Äе¼º½ campus community since 1933 where they started as local organizations and literacy clubs. In 1952, UÕ¬Äе¼º½ welcomed its first nationally recognized social sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. A year later, the community welcomed its first nationally recognized social fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. Since that time, many nationally recognized social fraternities and sororities have made UÕ¬Äе¼º½ their home. We celebrate 1952 as the year the Fraternity and Sorority Life community was founded at the University of Õ¬Äе¼º½.
